You can offset printing costs by asking local business to sponsor your publication. You may offer a variety of sizes of advertisements within the body of your book, on the cover or on the inside of the cover. All sponsorship money collected goes directly to your school/organisation.
Potential sponsors will want to know what they are getting for their money. It is up to you to decide on the price, although SYS provides pricing suggestions in the Sponsorship Letter available from our Free Downloads page. You can offer sponsors a flat rate or a price per book printed. Let your sponsor know approximately how many books will be sold. It is always a good idea to take your sample book with you when approaching a potential sponsor. The sample will give them an idea of what their logo/advert will look like and where it will be displayed.
Keep in mind there is limited room on the cover. Too many sponsors will create a very busy looking cover and will detract from the appearance of the book. Also, most business will be willing to pay more if they know that they are the only sponsor or that they are one of a few.
